Project Description

Chris was one of my first clients when I started freelancing. The original cover for Book I was done back in 2012, then I revisited and finished the rest of the series covers in 2019 when Chris switched to self-publishing.

The initial cover design of the tattered guidon and Wolfsriek unit symbol later became the basis for the visual design of the series. I created the guidon and wolf using a combination of traditional and digital illustrations.

When Chris approached me to complete the set, I suggested we pair the guidon with custom-designed icons for each cover so there was design continuity. I made some adjustments to the background and title placements, then cranked out five more icons. Chris provided descriptions for each and let me run with it—our visions aligned nearly perfectly on the first try, so there were very few revisions needed.
