Project Description

Once I heard the 2022 LCS Summer Championship was going to be hosted at the United Center, I knew we had to pay some sort of homage to the Chicago Bulls. I also wanted to design a premium merch item for the LCS 10 Year, and a basketball jersey seemed like the obvious choice to accomplish both these goals.

I took inspiration from the classic 90’s black and red pinstripe Jordan jerseys. The original colorway I designed was black and vinca (the LCS brand color), but our team decided the jersey wouldn’t be a purchasable item—it was meant to be an item for VIP guests at the event—so I pivoted to black and gold. I chose to use the year for the jersey number instead of 10 because it was visually similar to Jordan’s legendary 23 and Kobe’s 24 without forcing itself to be either.
